President Donald Trump pardoned former Dick Cheney chief of staff Scooter Libby on Friday, the White House said.
Libby had been charged with perjury in 2007 in the investigation surrounding the leaked the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame. Valerie was a spy for the US and had her identity leaked to the press by Scooter.
Four months after Libby’s sentence, President George W. Bush recognized a 30-month sentence but would not grant a pardon. Ms. Plame is outspokenly against Trump’s decision to pardon Mr. Libby
