Walden Pond, the body of water, which inspired Henry David Thoreau’s famous book Walden; or, Life in the Woods, is being ruined by years and years’ worth of visitors urine.
The water has been a national landmark loved by Americans for decades. Thousands upon thousands have travelled to Concord, Massachusetts to dip their toes in it.
According to a study conducted by PLOS journal the water has been contaminated due to tourists relieving themselves as they swim. The study warns swimmers that peeing in the lake will destroy it over time.
