All Starbucks Will Close Over Racial Bias in May

Starbucks Coffee Company announced Tuesday that it will be closing its more than 8,000 company-owned stores in the United States on the afternoon of May 29 to conduct racial-bias education geared toward preventing racial profiling in their stores. The training will be provided to nearly 175,000 employees across the country and will become part of the training process for new employees.

This decision has been made in light of a nationally recognized racial bias incident that happened after two black men were arrested while waiting at one of the coffee chain’s Philadelphia stores last week.
