Algerian Military Plane Crash Kills 257 people

An Algerian military plane has crashed near Algiers. The 257 people on board were all killed, officials say.  The defense ministry reported that most of the deceased are army personnel and their families. Ten crew members also died.

Polisario Front, an Algerian-backed separatist group in Western Sahara, had 26 members on board who also passed away in the crash.

An investigation into the cause is under way. The Algerian President has declared three days of national mourning.
